It’s the mind that generates inspiration – when the conditions are right. Looking at how we experience inspiration, there seem to be three levels. This brings me to a story of my own.
I’ve contributed money anonymously to many people, many times in my life. And I am the recipient of anonymous gifts from time to time. But this sort of thing – having a stranger pay for my breakfast – has never happened to me. It was an excellent occasion, that day, on which to experience that sort of kindness for the first time. It was a confirmation. It was an learn new things. And I believe it came from God.
To understand what’s happened, think of yourself as a container meant to hold motivation. When you first started your adult life you were a shiny, brand-spanking-new container that held tight to every drop of motivation that was ever poured into you. But over time the trials and tribulations of daily life punched small holes in the bottom of your container – not enough to drain the motivation out of you quickly, but still enough to slowly lower your levels. As time went on, though, the number of holes kept increasing and you began running out of motivation faster and faster as the leaks increased the outflow.
True motivation must come from within. Each one of us makes the final decision on our “engagement.” How engaged, or motivated we are about something can be influenced by outside factors, but like “The Donald”, in the end, what we say goes. Unlike Trump, many of us don’t take advantage of that opportunity.
It is a waste of time to set goals for yourself if there is no motivation simply because you are not capable of getting anything done. So, you need to learn how to deliver motivation. This can be done if you start within yourself. Here are some ways to help you learn how to deliver motivation and be motivated yourself.
In trading, as well as in our ordinary lives, what we really want is to be moving towards our goals and we want to be moving constantly. When we achieve our existing goals, new ones will be created.
The ultra-successful do not concern themselves with things beyond their control. Understanding what is beyond your control, and letting go of the things that stretch beyond your reach is critical to managing productivity, stress, and fulfillment. Regardless of your reach, you will never be able to reach back in time. The past is beyond your control. You cannot change it, but you can learn from it.
Your mission is to find what inspires you. It is finding the commonality in all that pleases you, gives you enjoyment and leaves you feeling fulfilled. Successful businesses promote teamwork as a major contributor to the success of a company’s bottom line. Remember, we are each other’s inspiration and hope for a better future.
