The primary way to stay motivated is in your thinking. If you can change how you think about what you do not want to do you will stay motivated to accomplish the goal.
Negative Emotional Reasons: This is a powerful form of motivation because it taps into what drives the subconscious mind. This is what happens when people get sick and tired of being sick and tired. Sometimes this condition is called “hitting rock bottom” however it doesn’t need to be that extreme in order to be effective. Your subconscious mind’s main objective is survival and that means avoiding pain. When you can generate emotional pain you will become subconsciously driven to make a change. As you can see, AF motivation is a great self defense mechanism and people usually do it consciously or unconsciously (as the unconscious mind tries to protect you from harm). However, the biggest problem of AF motivations is that it doesn’t lead you any where but a way from the problem. Using the example of the open fire again, the AF motivation was really just to stay away from the fire. Once you’re safe from the fire, there is no more motivation to do anything else.
Simply sharing one inspiring story with a friend can spark them to think of their own inspiring messages too. It builds a stronger relationship where you can continue to share the inspiration and drive each other to find more. Indeed, sharing stories of meaning and value are also a great way to discover new things and inspiration as well!
